Laser Gum Treatment Philadelphia

soft tissue laser used in laser gum recontouring

Gentle, effective treatment for gums and soft tissue

Dr. Siegel employs the latest laser technology to clean gums and to perform corrective gum procedures. He uses soft-tissue lasers for in-depth gum cleaning and to correct  "gummy smiles" by laser gum recontouring.

When used for cleaning, the laser breaks up the tartar.  It is flushed out, allowing the gums to heal more effectively.

Cosmetic gum surgery is the procedure of lengthening your teeth from the neck of the tooth upwards. Your teeth then appear to be longer and much less gum is seen when you smile.

How does the diode laser work?

The laser itself is not much larger than a strand of hair, making the procedure quite comfortable. A diode is a special kind of laser.

The laser is aimed between the gum tissue and teeth where it painlessly removes and kills the bacteria that cause gum disease. The small laser is able to penetrate deep into pockets between the gums and teeth, ensuring that bacteria has no place to hide.

The diode laser is a handheld unit. It can be used to perform gum surgery. Because the diode laser kills bacteria, it is also used to sterilize the gums before or during root canals, cavity treatment, and other such procedures.
