Cutting-edge technology for effective treatment
Some of the Advanced Dental Technology that you will find at Dr. Siegel’s office is listed below. Each advance is intended to make your dental visits shorter and more comfortable, with excellent results. Clink on a link below or to the left to find out more about these services.
VELscope Oral Cancer Screening
VELscope Oral Cancer Screening is a quick, convenient oral cancer screening tool. The goal is to detect oral cancer early before it spreads. Early detection of oral cancer can increase survival odds by 66%. VELscope makes cancer screening quick and convenient. Identafi® is a similar technology. Each shines a special light in your mouth. In this light, healthy tissue glows bright green. Abnormal, potentially cancerous tissue remains dark. When we detect dark regions, we can refer you to an oral surgeon who will take a sample of the tissue (biopsy) to test for a definitive cancer diagnosis.
The Cone Beam CT for TMJ, and Root Canal Therapy
Excelsior Cone Beam CT
The Excelsior cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) by Prexion is a state-of-the-art imaging tool that creates, essentially, 3D x-rays. With just a quick scan, we can develop a 3D image of your teeth and jaw, which can help with many different procedures, such as dental implants, TMJ treatment, and root canal therapy.
The CBCT has many benefits over medical CT scanners. It’s open, not enclosed. It exposes you to less radiation. The scans are quick, and it even gives us more detailed resolution of the small areas we are interested in.
The DIAGNOdent is a pen-like probe that sends a safe, painless laser beam into the tooth and checks its health. A number scale and an alarm will signal when there are signs of hidden decay. This allows us to determine if decay is lurking beneath the apparently healthy tooth surface.
This technology allows us to catch tooth decay at an earlier stage before the tooth is destroyed from the inside out and helps prevent more extensive procedures.
BioClear tooth reshaping is a powerful technique to address black triangles in your smile and other problems with your tooth shape that are hard to address with traditional dental bonding. Because it’s a flowable composite, it can reshape teeth at the gumline, where it’s hard to reach with bonding. BioClear is stronger and more stain-resistant than regular bonding, and it’s more affordable than veneers.
CEREC One-Visit Crowns
CEREC One-Visit Crowns utilize modern CAD/CAM techniques to design and manufacture your dental crowns in our office while you wait. No need to get provisional dental crowns, then wait weeks and make a second visit for your final crowns. Instead, you can get your dental crowns made in just one visit to our office.
Bringing the latest technology to his practice, Dr. Siegel now uses the Comfort Control Syringe to give you nearly pain-free numbing of the mouth.
Painful dental injections are caused by the rapid speed of the injection, not the needle itself. The new Comfort Control Syringe is computer-controlled, and handles the problem by providing a smooth, steady flow of anesthesia to the targeted area, which means much less discomfort–many of our patients report these injections are completely painless!
NuCalm Relaxation Dentistry
NuCalm Relaxation Dentistry is a drug-free way to overcome dental anxiety. Using advanced neuroscience, NuCalm disarms your body’s anxiety response. bout 95% of users report that this technique works for them, and 98% say they would recommend it to a friend or family member.
Gum disease is the leading threat to your teeth. It’s also a serious risk for your overall health, and can increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s, and cancer. Traditional and even advanced laser gum disease treatments don’t always work for everyone. PerioProtect is a system that delivers antibacterial medications directly where they’re needed: at your gums. Using trays similar to whitening trays or clear braces, PerioProtect helps treat resistant or recurrent gum disease.
SOPROLIFE Intraoral Camera
Dr. Siegel uses the SOPROLIFE intraoral camera to gather information about the condition of your teeth. This tiny camera fits comfortably in your mouth, and enables Dr. Siegel to photograph your teeth quickly and easily. The camera is located in the tip of the intraoral wand and transmits real-time video for you and the doctor to review. With the enlarged view available on video screens, Dr. Siegel can see, diagnose and explain everything that is happening in your mouth, but the SOPROLIFE intraoral camera goes one step further. It uses black light to look for decay and cracks in your teeth.
Panoramic Digital X-Rays
Panoramic x-rays allow us to image more than just your teeth. We can look at your jaw joints, your sinuses, and more! Plus, with our digital x-rays, we can get highly detailed images with 90% less radiation. We can use this technology to help us look for tooth infections, tumors, TMJ, and impacted teeth.
At Dental Excellence of Blue Bell, during your smile consultation, we can use our smile imaging software to show you what the improvements to your smile can look like without actually doing any dentistry. We simply take your picture and modify the image in our computer so that you can see yourself with the finished improvements in place. Want whiter teeth? Not a problem. You can see your smile whiter and brighter to see if this improvement will go far enough to give you the smile you want. It also help us in understanding what you want your smile to look like, and helps to give you realistic expectations.
T-Scan Bite Analysis
The T-Scan®, made by Tekscan, offers information about your bite that was previously very difficult to come by. Proper occlusion (the way your teeth come together) is critical to your dental health. Dentists typically use articulating paper that deposits color on spots where the teeth are coming together with too much force, but this technique is far from perfect. The T-Scan uses BiteForce Dynamics™, a computerized system of force measurement, to identify which teeth are coming together first, and where the bulk of the force in a patient’s bite is located. Dr. Siegel uses the T-Scan to ensure that his patients’ bites are balanced. The T-Scan, coupled with the Myotronics K-7 computer, makes occlusion much more predictable. We’re proud to add this leading-edge technology to our already comprehensive suite of dental technology. We believe that our patients’ safety and comfort are worth the investment.
K7 Evaluation System
TMJ Treatment can be hard to get right if you don’t start with accurate information. While the T-Scan tells us about the end point of bite dysfunction (how the teeth come together), the K7 can help us track down its source. The K7 measures many different aspects of the jaw system, including the sounds of the jaw joint (to detect catching or grinding), the motion of the jaw, and the tension in jaw muscles, to help us track down the source of an imbalanced bite. That way, we can make sure that it’s not just your teeth that are right, it’s your whole jaw system.
CariVu Cavity Detection System
Finding cavities on your teeth is made much harder because we can’t see all of the tooth. Much of it is hidden by neighboring teeth, not to mention that we can’t see inside the tooth itself. That’s the benefit of the CariVu Cavity Detection System. This system lets us shine a light into the tooth that makes the interior of the tooth visible, letting us see cavities and other problems that were completely invisible before.
MLS Laser Therapy
This is an advanced laser that can deliver precise doses of energy to treat conditions such as sore muscles related to TMJ. The advanced software that controls this laser can be integrated with several other technologies to provide more unified treatment.
